Universal — Apple silicon and Intel. macOS asks once before opening it, because the app is signed but not notarised by Apple; the guide below has the two ways past that.

Installs to /opt/sentinelle with an entry in your applications menu. Proxy mode needs no permissions; full-tunnel mode needs root.

Download .deb

Running it on macOS

  1. Open the .dmg and drag Sentinelle into Applications.
  2. The first launch is refused — macOS blocks apps it cannot check with Apple. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom, and press Open Anyway.
  3. Or do the same thing in one command, and skip the prompt entirely: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Sentinelle.app
  4. Sign in and connect. Full-tunnel mode routes every app and needs an administrator, so it is started from Terminal: sudo /Applications/Sentinelle.app/Contents/MacOS/Sentinelle A session started that way has its own settings, so you sign in again. Proxy mode is the default and needs none of this.

Running it on Linux

  1. Install the package from the folder you downloaded it to: sudo apt install ./sentinelle_1.7.5-15_amd64.deb
  2. Start Sentinelle from your applications menu, or type sentinelle in a terminal.
  3. Sign in and connect. Full-tunnel mode creates a network device, which needs root: sudo /opt/sentinelle/sentinelle Proxy mode needs no permissions and is the default.
  4. On GNOME, the tray icon needs the AppIndicator extension. Without it the app simply closes instead of hiding away.
